This is large ant species in New Zealand. worker is around 5-7mm, queen is around 6-9mm.

Austroponera castaneicolor is second large ant in New Zealand.

This species do mutil-queens, so it can more than 1 queen in a colony.

This species do gamergate, so can be no queen in colony, but workers lay eggs.

This species play dead, so if you found them not move like dead, please don't though it away, they may jump and run away~

you need feed small insert to this ant. They also like sweet fruit. or honey water

This ant are super sensitive, any shake or scare, they will eat eggs and larva. you have to keep them in good environment to let queen fell safe and then she will lay egg again.
